Asset Conversion Services is a leader in Sun Memory for a reason and one of those reasons is to be found in over 20 years of supplying and manufacturing Sun memory. With the experience that we have gained, it has allowed us to source parts that most other companies just do not have access to.

A lot of companies will list Sun products that either one is third party only or two is listed, but not supplied. Our supply of memory kits for the M3000, M4000 and M5000 is listed and supplied, as well as the Sun/Oracle T4 platform memory and servers.

We have Sun original and well as third party options and have recently expressed (press release) our efforts to venture forth with the Sun/Oracle T4 platform starting with memory first and following that up by providing the T4 servers. Starting with the T4-1, followed by the T4-2 and ending with the T4-4.

When we were asked why we were focusing in on the Sun/Oracle T4 platform in an earlier interview, Steve Harshbarger spokesperson for Asset Conversion Services (ACS) said that “ According to Oracle, the SPARC T4 servers deliver outstanding performance against IBM Power7 and HP Itanium-based systems. Oracle's end-to-end SPARC T4-4-based solution is 2.4x faster than an all-IBM solution, setting a world record in enterprise Java application environments, and has a 20% performance advantage per socket across the entire configuration. In data warehousing, Oracle's SPARC T4-4 server delivered over 2.4x better performance per socket than the IBM Power 780 with 33% better price/performance. Compared to the HP Superdome 2 with 16 Itanium processors, the SPARC T4-4 delivered 5.7x more performance per socket and 2.6x better price/performance, according to Oracle.”

Larry Ellison put it another way, “The SPARC SuperCluster T4-4 is a really fast computer. It combines the latest in Extreme Parallelism and the latest in Extreme Compression to provide a 100% upwardly compatible migration path for existing SPARC customers. This one box moves data two times faster than IBM's fastest computer at eight times better price/performance. This is a really fast computer.”

The final clincher for Asset Conversion Services was looking at the planned growth path for Sun/Oracle server platform. Since they exceeded their planned performance agenda set earlier for the T4, we do not see any reason that Sun/Oracle will slow down or get complacent by not reaching their next server milestone. This is what we like about the Sun/Oracle collaboration. You could say that in the middle to late nineties Sun was kind of sitting on their laurels, and standing by as other platforms like IBM and HP gained market share. With Oracle driving the future and providing the funds for further Sun CPU and platform development the future looks really bright.
